THE NORTHERN FORTS

Liepāja si trova in Lettonia. Karosta è un quartiere di Liepāja, e si estende su 1/3 della sua superficie. 

Karosta (Kara Osta, porto navale) venne costruito tra il 1890 ed il 1906 come base navale dello zar, impiegata poi come base della flotta sovietica sul mar Baltico. Dopo la caduta degli zar, ed a seguito del crollo dell’URSS, la fortezza venne dismessa.

Da allora la natura ha cominciato a riprendersi il suo spazio, e sulla parte costiera l’atmosfera è unica.

Liepaja is located in Latvia. Karosta is a Liepāja district, and fills over 1/3 of its surface.

Karosta (Kara Osta, naval port) was built between 1890 and 1906 as a naval base of the tsar, and then used as basis of the Soviet fleet in the Baltic Sea. After the fall of the Tsar, and as a result of the collapse of the USSR, the fortress was abandoned.

Since then, nature has begun to recover its space, and on the coast the atmosphere is unique.
